The Quiet Feudalism of the Modern World Order

Introduction Today’s world is well connected and definitely progressing at an unprecedented level but it’s an idealistic assumption that it has moved past from prejudices and oppressive systems of the past. In a way, empires that dominated in the past are still in control. It is nothing more than an urban fantasy and illusion that all countries are equal. We see diplomats in fancy suits, hear flowery language, treaties, trade agreements; a display of a unified front and collaborative approach but this is a facade. The complex structure of the past still stands true and it reflects the ideology of the past hierarchies. Certain prominent states set the tone for world maxims, while many remain dependent and weak. The path for development and progress is not as straight forward as it seems.  Kingdoms got replaced by democratic system ; people in power don’t wear crowns and carry swords but they function in the same manner. World order today is a form of global feudalism. This dyn...

The weight we carry

Life is full of twists and turns ; unfinished experiences, ambitions, adventure, unspoken aspirations etc. somewhere in the corner, also lie unresolved conflicts. We move on and shift our entire focus on our routines and responsibilities . But unlike a computer cache, our minds do not self clean. Unprocessed backlog starts to accumulate ; rooting deep down in our subconscious and like stones in a backpack, we carry them everywhere with us; without even realizing their existence . But suddenly, on a random day, we start to feel this weight.  These unresolved feelings create a web of confusion and distress within ourselves which has an impact on how we see ourselves and others around us.Therefore, like we take care of our physical appearance and well being ; we should take care of our emotional health. This is possible only by taking some time out and self reflecting; in my debut book “Reflections”; there is a chapter where I talked about power of solitude. i want to share the s...

Words Are Powerful, But Don’t Be Fooled by Fancy Grammar

An honest confession: we  love  words. We use them to express love, vent frustration, post captions, write vows, tell jokes, and sell just about everything from toothpaste to invest in funds. A well-placed sentence can make you cry, laugh, fall in love, or hit the road without a second thought. Words build relationships, start wars, fixes them, and make you believe that  “Words are all I have to take your heart away”. (yes, I am from the generation that listened to Boy-zone)   But over the years I learned that words, for all their charm, are tricky little things. While they can build castles, they can just as easily build illusions. We live in a world where someone can say all the right things, perfectly timed “I miss you” texts, buzzwords that sound like leadership, poetic apologies that deserve standing ovations and yet, you find that sometimes actions don’t align with them at all. Likewise, you know that weird feeling when someone says exactly what you want to hea...

Redefining Control: Effort, Attitude, Response

In the conversations that overflow cafes, offices, classrooms, and living rooms, we are accustomed to hearing two fairly distinct impressions of life. One individual is smiling and commenting, "Life is good." The other person is frowning and grumbling, "My life is awful." Though such phrases appear to be based on very different circumstances in life, they don't need to be based in objective reality at all. They most commonly result from something greater and more encompassing:  personal attitude. The truth is, the majority of people have no idea that they're not just existing through life, they're also  existing through the story of their life . The difference between a person who sees life as being good and someone who sees life as being horrible is less about what happens to them, but more about the way that they choose to react to and account for what happens.  The Power of Perspective The person who says, "Life is good," is not trouble-free...
