Chase your heights ; the eagle’s way.
On the broad stretches of the sky, flies the mighty eagle. Its wide wings unfolded, it is a bird of power, elegance and fierce autonomy. It does not flock with other birds. It flies alone, with a single, determined objective. I have always had a fascination with the big bird and watch endless documentaries on it. Observing an eagle brings me to relate it with the type of people who manage to overcome the adversities of life. It's not only the majestic wings of an eagle that distinguish it from the rest ; it's the attitude it possesses.
Let’s have a look at some of the similarities I observed.
The power of independence and clarity
An eagle flies alone, soaring to the heights no other bird would ever attempt. Its line is uncluttered, its eyes focused. In humans, some of us too, welcome solitude. As life starts to happen, we do begin to acknowledge that in order to be great, sometimes we have to stand alone and distant ourselves from the crowd. We don't have to follow the trail of others simply because it's the norm or a cultural practice. Winners understand they have their own way, not because they are arrogant but because their ideas are unique and their perspective is distinctive.
Just like an eagle, these kind of individuals are willing to pursue their destiny alone and understand that for a grander view, one cannot allow himself to get lost in other peoples din. It’s your purpose and passion which drives you to pursue the objectives that feel right to the heart.
Keen vision
An eagle's vision is unmatched in power. Miles above the ground, it locks onto its prey with impeccable precision and clarity. It doesn't let the strong wind or noise from the ground distract it. Its focus stays sharp, making it a true predator of the skies.
In the same way, successful people keep a sharp focus on their goals.Their game plan is intact and their spirit is unwavering. Their aspirations and intentions are clear. It's easy to get lost in the turbulences of life, but those who stay firm are the ones who succeed,no matter how far reaching their goals are.
The key is focus. Know what you are aiming for and don't let anyone or anything distract you from your objective.
A taste for the fresh
Eagles will not consume the dead. They only consume fresh, live prey. Winners in life follow this same principle. They don't settle for consolation prize, static relationships, or confining beliefs. They realize that feeding on what is "dead" only leads to the dead end. They seek positive company, realistic and wise lot who propel them to move forward in the right direction.
This is just not a philosophical aspect to perceive things. Smart people recognize what kind of influence their surroundings will have over them so they stay away from negative people and stagnant settings.Like an eagle, which selects only the finest game, winners seek things that will nourish them in order to become greater.
Rising above the storm
When the storm comes down, an eagle does not hide away. It doesn't cower under the clouds or hide under the trees. Instead, it spreads its wings and flies on the winds, using the same storm everyone else avoids to fly higher. This is the spirit of a daredevil.
Winners realize that the storms of life, either a personal turmoil or a business adversity is not the end of the world .They are the stepping stones to rise above, and utilize the pressure to discover their true potential.
As an eagle uses the storm as a launching pad , victorious lot use adversity as a springboard to greater excellence ; while others fear a fall, they soar. They understand that every storm passes, and that once passed, they are ahead of where they were before.
Testing before trusting
The eagle does not jump into a commitment. Before allowing another eagle to be its mate, it tests its loyalty and dedication. Both males and females engage in a fascinating aerial display where they soar to great heights, lock talons, and tumble towards the ground.
This is a lesson humans can learn. Do not trust easily. Trust should be built through demonstration of personal values and tested commitment. In business, in friendship, and even in romance, know that trust is not to be given lightly. Be conscious of people's commitment first, their character, and their consistency before welcoming them into your life.
The wisdom behind preparation
When eagles build their home , they do not place their nests randomly. They lay down rough thorns first, then soft grass, feathers, and even cloth to make the nest safe as well as comfortable. This carefulness with a purpose is the mindset of a champion.
Champions understand the importance of building a strong foundation.Success is not a coincidence,it is a result of preparation, dedication, and sacrifice. Similarly , the eagle's nest is not a symbol of ease but a representation of the work that must go in before the sweetness of comfort can be enjoyed.
Creating enduring relationships
An eagle chooses one partner for a life time and returns to the same nest year in and year out. This demonstrates the sight of a loving relationship which is stable and true.
In our society also, we understand that a meaningful relationship is the product of loyalty and commitment ; be it to a partner, a cause or friendships.
My conclusion
I came across an interesting article on behavioral sciences that discussed DISC, an acronym for the four behavioral styles of dominance, influence, steadiness, and conscientiousness. After reading that , I conclude that in a way eagles reflect these attributes. They are direct, focused and determined to win.
An eagle’s life is shows us that true victory comes from hard work, focus, and staying true to your goal. And that we all have the potential to rise above our challenges. An eagle doesn’t wait for the favorable circumstances,It simply opens its wings and flies.
Are you ready to do the same?
